The EU was “charmed” by Liz Truss ahead of her meeting with Maroš Šefčovič next week. According to the Director of Eurasia Group Mujtaba Rahman, there is no appetite to trigger Article 16 anymore. Despite the demand from hardline Brexiteers and the DUP, there is little pressure from the public or businesses in Northern Ireland. Coupled with so much political disarray in the UK, Ms Truss is bringing more “respect, sensitivity, pragmatism and engagement to the brief.”
