SINGAPORE – The People’s Action Party is leading in Kebun Baru SMC and Hong Kah North SMC in the first batch of sample count results released by the Elections Department on Friday (July 10).

In Kebun Baru SMC, PAP is leading with 68 per cent of the vote, while PSP is estimated to have 32 of the vote.

In Hong Kah North SMC, PAP is leading with 63 of the vote, while PSP is estimated to have 37 of the vote.

All 1,100 polling stations across the island closed at 10pm, after a two-hour extension.

The Elections Department announced around 7pm that voting hours would be extended to 10pm. The polls were initially scheduled to close at 8pm.

Sample count results give an early indication of the possible results for the electoral divisions, but are not final. They are derived from a count of 100 ballot papers from each polling station within a constituency, soon after voting ends.

There are 31 constituencies, comprising 17 GRCs and 14 SMCs.
