Tony Miklinski told Express.co.uk that the Labour Party have not clearly articulated their policies to the electorate. The Scottish Tory added that his party has a clear advantage over the Scottish Labour Party due to their crystal clear policies ahead of the 2021 May elections.

Mr Miklinski said: “At the moment I do not think even Labour supporters know what Labour stands for anymore.

“Not on independence and not more widely, I don’t think they have clearly articulated policies.

“On the independence question, I do not think Labour supporters let alone anyone else have a clear understanding on if you vote for a Labour politician, they are voting for independence or remaining in the union.

“One of the great advantages of the Scottish Conservatives is that we are crystal clear and people know what we stand for.

“So the criticism of Labour is that they just have not made it clear.”

Mr Miklinski also stated that the Scottish Labour Party is in a ‘desperate position’ due to Keir Starmer’s unclear stance on Scottish independence.

The Scottish Conservative councillor added that without a clear policy on Scottish independence the Scottish Labour Party will suffer in the upcoming Holyrood election in May 2021.

Mr Miklinski said: “I don’t know as I sit here which of the statements from Keir Starmer or anybody else constitutes Labour’s position on independence.

Boris Johnson questioned by Starmer over isolation work payment

“Are they for it? Are they against it? Is it up to the Scottish people if they want it? I have heard variations of that theme.

“Labour is in a desperate position, Labour will never be in power again in the UK if they cannot get back their power base in Scotland.

“How do they do that? Do they do it by pandering to the nationalists and being warm towards independence?

“Or do they oppose it and become part of the unionist movement?

“I don’t think they know, I think they are scratching around under Keir Starmer, I don’t think he has really thought through the implications of what he is trying to do with Scotland.”

He continued: “I expect Labour to suffer more so than they did at the last election.

“They really are a spent force, I see it on a daily basis, they are split.

“So unless Keir Starmer can exert some control and get a clear policy in the next three months then I think they are destined to be wiped out.”
