Dr Shola and Scottie Nell Hughes appeared on Sky News with Dr Shola supporting US President Joe Biden for saying “America is back” and departing from Donald Trump’s Administration. But Ms Hughes said the lived experiences of US citizens were not as rosy as many on the international stage may think and skewered President Biden over his Russia and G7 Summit stances. The pair began to tackle each other’s arguments before the debate descended into chaos, forcing host Kay Burley to intervene and calm things down.
The debate between the commentators opened up relatively calmly with Dr Shola praising Joe Biden’s approach to dialogue and less antagonistic approach when compared to predecessor Donald Trump.
But Ms Hughes disputed Mr Biden’s success as she explained many in the US were not enjoying many positives under his administration.
She disputed Dr Shola’s claim Mr Biden was looking to balance world leaders’ concerns and told the programme: “If you’re talking about balance, does that mean going completely from things being stable to being high cost, high prices and things that you can’t live on?
“Is that the balance you’re looking for, yeah, you’re right things are back… back to leading from behind.
“And that’s exactly why on the international scale there is so much disrespect right now for this country on the foreign scale.”
Dr Shola could be heard exclaiming “oh my god” as Ms Hughes added the G7 was a complete waste of time for the US.
She continued: “Let’s talk about it, right now you already have all those countries in the G7 are going to sit down with Russia and talk about the Nord Stream [pipeline]
“That’s exactly not what Biden had said that he wanted to do, he wanted to put the pressure on Putin and Russia and yet it’s the exact opposite.

“It was a complete joke and unfortunately I think every country has a different experience with Biden to see exactly what Americans are dealing with and why we are in the chaotic structure that we’re in today.”
The Nord Stream 2 pipeline is a multi-billion-pound venture from Russia to pump Russian fuel into Europe through Germany.
The American administrations have opposed the construction of it as they fear it will increase Russian power and influence over Europe.
Mr Biden overturned sanctions on major businesses involved in the construction in a move widely condemned by Russian critics and those on the right.

Dr Shola replied: “Let me just remind because it’s clear you are suffering from selective amnesia.
“You want to talk about disrespect, that was with the last four years with Donald Trump.
“Disrespect was how Donald Trump dealt with all of our allies and how we separated us from our allies.
“How we basically were kissing the butts off of North Korea and Russia – that was disrespect.”
The debate then got heated as Ms Hughes could be heard referencing the reported Russia and UK naval clash in the Black Sea.
Host Kay Burley was forced to interject as neither side could be clearly heard through the shouting.
