A man carrying a knife has been shot in the street by police after he allegedly tried to attack responding officers, it has been reported.
Police in Barcelona have said an officer was forced to shoot a man after the individual allegedly tried to attack them in the street with a knife
It is understood police were responding to an alleged assault near number 44 on Passeig de Sant Joan when the attack happened.
Albert Batlle, the Deputy Mayor of security for Barcelona, said a man tried to attack agents of the Guardia Urbana by attacking them with "specifically a large knife."
He told press the man, thought to be a homeless person, was shot in the "abdomen" and had "caused inconvenience" prior to the alleged attack.
