Matt Taylor told BBC Breakfast that the strongest rainfall will be in eastern Scotland as well as northern England and Wales. The BBC meteorologist stated that most of the UK should see some sunshine come through the clouds after the morning rain.
Mr Taylor said: “The heaviest of the rain is across eastern Scotland, down into the far north of England and northwest Wales.
“There is patchy rain in the south and east but that will clear.
“But we do start to see rain work its way south across England and Wales through the morning.
“Most will see the cloud break up and a bit of sunshine come through.
“There is a blustery wind out there this morning in northeastern areas in the afternoon but it is nowhere near as strong as what we saw last week.”
The BBC meteorologist added: “Mid-week we see high pressure generally build, just a little bit to the west of us, we want it a little bit further east to be fair because it does mean we’ve got a bit of a breeze blowing across some northern and eastern areas.
“Some cloud in East Anglia, southeast, breaking into sunshine but around that area of high pressure we tend to bring in a bit more cloud across Scotland and Northern Ireland later on Wednesday, some light rain.
“Even though temperatures down on Tuesday, with light winds, sunshine in the back it should feel quite pleasant but during the second half of the week, we see one batch of rain work across the country and as that goes and high pressure builds in, there will be a change to the way things feel.

“Daytime temperatures will potentially be colder than average in the south, particularly the southeast at first, where showers may be wintry at times, and on the milder side elsewhere.
“The end of the period will most likely see another period of unsettled weather, with spells of rain and some strong winds crossing all parts of the UK, interspersed with drier and brighter interludes.
“Temperatures are expected to be at or slightly below average for this time of year by the end of the period.”
The BBC has also forecast unsettled conditions with below-average temperatures.
