A teenage couple from Plymouth admit they've had better dinners after spending £30 on KFC only for it to arrive looking like it had been ‘kicked around a football pitch’ and had ‘lipstick drawn on it'.

Luke West and Holly Stedman had placed their KFC order on Sunday night through Uber Eats but ended up wishing they'd just stuck something in the oven.

The couple said that when their delivery items arrived were ripped, and to top it off they said everything was covered in gravy.

And it wasn’t just the ‘state’ of the order they were left angry about, as Luke, 18 said the chicken they ordered had what looked like ‘red paint’ on it.

And Holly, 19 said when they complained to the St Budeaux KFC, situated on Wolseley Road, the member of staff who she spoke to ‘didn’t listen’ and ‘hung up’ without resolving the couple’s KFC order.

Holly told PlymouthLive: “It was disgusting. I wasn’t impressed and paid thirty pounds for it to come in a state.

“We ordered from KFC’s branch of Wolseley Road through Uber Eats and when we received the food it was ripped and it looked like it had been kicked around on a football field and gravy was all over it.

“And to top it all off the chicken was covered in some red paint almost as if it had lipstick drawn on it.”

She continued: “I contacted the branch and the way I was spoken to was really disrespectful, and to be quite honest I was hung up on.

“They told me I had to contact Uber Eats and they will send back the driver and do a whole new order, half an hour later, I still hadn’t received the order."

Following this Holly and Luke then visited the St Budeaux KFC where they received a new order and were told to seek a refund from UberEats.

And despite receiving a refund from the delivery company, Holly and Luke have been left upset with the way they have been treated by the KFC branch’s customer service team.

A KFC spokesperson said: “We’re sorry to hear Luke was put off his meal, that’s the last thing we want!

"We know delivery can be a bit of a bumpy ride sometimes, but we work hard to ensure our food is delivered in finger lickin’ condition. We’ve not had any similar complaints, but we appreciate this isn’t up to scratch so our team is looking into what happened.

"In the meantime, we would love for Luke to get in touch with us so we can make things right.”
