Deformed one-eyed shark with craziest teeth circles divers in tense encounter

A huge shark with one eye, deformed gums and odd protruding teeth came face-to-face with two scuba divers as it stared them down in terrifying footage.

The brazen divers looked the beast in the eyes as it swam just metres away from them with gripped onlookers watching on from the sides at the Dubai Mall aquarium.

Shocking images show the worried pair trying to stay calm and grip a rock as the killer animal, identified as a sand tiger shark, gets ever closer.

Thankfully, the animal eventually decides not to grip them in its jaws and moves on without incident. Sand tiger sharks, which are endangered, usually attack humans only in self defence.

One of the lucky divers posted the “close encounter” clip to YouTube and admitted: “Every time I'm at that mall I am just waiting to see someone in there get ripped to pieces.

“Well, now the time came for me to be that person.

"This shark obviously has the craziest teeth out of all the sharks in the tank… he was in my face.

“There's everyone watching, just waiting for that mauling… and of course I thought it was the end.”

And it wasn’t just him who was thought he might meet a gruesome end at the jaws of the shark.

The clip has been flooded with comments from horrified YouTube users in admiration of the diver’s bravery.

One wrote: “I really applaud that guy. He looks super uncomfortable and unsettled when the shark got that close, but he definitely did an amazing job staying calm and keeping his composure.

“Those things are so much bigger in person, I don't know if I could do something like this.”

Whilst another pointed out: “It looks particularly ugly because it’s missing an eye and has deformed gums.”

A third petrified commentator added: “I have never been so scared watching a YouTube video. My heart was in my stomach watching it…

“This is the closest I'll ever get to any sharks. Mad respect for all of you.”
