Gran gains thousands of fans for her Yorkshire puddings that barely fit in oven

A gran has gained thousands of fans after she posted a picture of her 23-inch Yorkshire puddings which she baked in her "normal size oven".

Victoria Rushton, 55, was flooded with questions about the super-size Yorkies after her daughter tagged her in a post that asked users to show their best Yorkshires.

The shop worker said she was "blown away" by the response – with admirers stating they could be "used as a boat".

Even her family were shocked by her whopping treats which she was taught to make by her late father-in-law Frank.

She revealed the trick was to use "plenty of eggs", water and a hint of gravy, reports Yorkshire Live.

The 55-year-old from Barnsley, South Yorkshire, said: "I was just like wow. My daughter asked me if I had seen the post and I hadn't. She said there was thousands of comments, thousands of likes and thousands of shares.

"It was just absolutely wow – I just couldn't believe it.

"People were saying they would like to see the size of my oven and things like that but it's just a normal size oven.

"They were saying stuff like 'look at that size of that Yorkshire pudding oh my god' and everyone was just commenting about them."

She said she normally serves her puds with "loads of roast potatoes", mash, carrots, cauliflower cheese, broccoli and whatever meat she fancies that day.

Victoria creates her huge Yorkshires in the oven on a deep baking tray that takes the whole shelf up.

She also adds a portion of the pudding mixture to her homemade gravy to thicken it up.

The gran added: "People kept coming on and saying ‘I’d love to see the size of her oven’.

"I always make them that big, unless it's just for me and my husband. They’re big enough for six."

Victoria added: "My late father-in-law showed me how to make the mix, and they always rise as big as that.

"It's lovely, I just love my own Sunday dinner. A lot of people say that they cannot eat their own Sunday dinner and that they don't enjoy it. But I do, it's really good."
