‘Green dog’ becomes internet sensation after going for a roll in the grass

A bright green dog has become the latest animal to go viral on Twitter – but not all is as it seems.

The anonymous hound hasn't had a dodgy doggy dye job, or been dropped off on Earth for a runaround by his alien owners, he's merely had a little too much fun in the garden.

The hilarious snap, showing a shaggy-haired pooch in a very unnatural shade of green, is captioned: "One white dog + wet freshly cut grass ="

Twitter users from across the globe, each eager for some light relief from political tensions, coronavirus, and other everyday crises and chaos, were quick to drop the doggo a like and give him a retweet.

Since being posted yesterday (October 3), the snap has received a staggering 40,000 likes.

But it seems the post, by @wilson_wadey, caused a sense of de-ja vu for some people.

The green dog has been circulating the internet for a while, popping up with various versions of the "white dog meets cut grass" caption for months.

The only difference (other than the description) is that the pooch is getting greener and greener each time.

If you're more of a cat person, you won't be surprised to learn that there is now photo evidence that the four-legged furballs really do rule the world.
