The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s interview with Oprah Winfrey puts Prince Harry in a "very tricky position" as he is caught between the Royal Family and Meghan Markle, an expert has warned.

Meghan and Harry announced their agreement to a sit-down TV interview with Oprah a day after the couple confirmed they are expecting their second child.

But following the news, Royal commentator Camilla Tominey warned Harry "risks losing his way".

The couple’s "plunging popularity ratings" in the UK may be easy to "ignore" for Meghan but Harry is "seemingly desperate to keep his royal and military ties," she wrote in the Telegraph.

Writing in the newspaper, Ms Tominey said: "While Meghan may choose to ignore the couple's plunging popularity ratings over here, it is much harder for Harry to turn his back on a Blighty which still, somewhat grudgingly, sees him as part of the Windsor establishment and remembers his undoubted contribution to British life with genuine fondness.

"From the Beatles to Downton Abbey, British exports to the US only really succeed when they maintain their popularity at home.

She added Harry "risks losing his way completely" if he "blindly follows" Meghan's ambitions and "forgets where he came from".

Ms Tominey added she believes Meghan has "little intention" of returning home.

But she added it is more complicated for Harry because of his royal and military ties.

US network CBS announced on Monday, February 15, the 90-minute "Oprah with Meghan and Harry: A CBS Primetime Special" will air on March 7.

The network said Oprah will grill Meghan on "a wide-ranging interview covering everything from stepping into life as a royal, marriage, motherhood (and) philanthropic work, to how she is handling life under intense public pressure".

Later, the pair will be joined "by Prince Harry as they speak about their move to the United States and their future hopes and dreams for their expanding family".
