Prince Harry watched his other girlfriends "crumble" under the royal spotlight and did not want Meghan Markle to go through the same, a source has claimed.
The Duke and Duchess are no stranger to being in the public eye now but the media spotlight was said to be one of the reasons why they left the Royal Family as working members in 2020.
The light has been on the famous pair recently both due to Harry’s speech at the UN and the release of Tom Bower’s book, Revenge: Meghan, Harry and the War Between the Windsors.

This isn’t the first time the light has been shone particularly harshly on the couple though. In fact, when the pair first started dating Harry became concerned about the intense interest in his life and how it might lead to him losing the woman he loved, a source has claimed.
Speaking to Heatworld, the source said: “Harry knew he wanted to marry Meghan as soon as he met her, but when their relationship became public, he was disgusted at the scrutiny she faced.
“He was worried she would leave him and even had thoughts of walking away himself so Meghan could have a normal life away from the pressure, he felt so guilty.”

Harry was reportedly concerned that his relationship with Meghan could suffer in the same way that previous relationships had under the gaze of the world.
“He’d seen other girlfriends crumble before and didn’t want the same to happen to Meghan. But neither of them wanted that and they’ve chosen instead to do things on their terms. Falling in love is the best thing that’s happened to both of them.”
