Human remains found in marshland identified as OAP who vanished two years ago

The remains of a missing person have been discovered by police in marshland in Swansea, Wales.

According to South Wales Police, officers were called to an area close to Llannant Road in Gorseinon on Tuesday 19 October after reports were made about the discovery.

Now, a forensic examination has revealed that the remains are of 78-year-old Alun Price, who went missing in February 2019, WalesOnline reports.

A public appeal was launched to find Alun after his car was discovered in the Loughor area.

Police say there are no suspicious circumstances around his death.

A statement from South Wales Police read: "Shortly before midday on Tuesday, October 19, police officers were called to an area of marsh land near Llannant Road, Gorseinon, following the discovery of human remains.

"A forensic examination has identified the deceased as Alun Price, 78, who was reported missing from his home in Loughor on February 6, 2019.

"There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances around Mr Price’s death and his family is being kept updated with developments.

"A file of evidence is being prepared for HM Coroner. The local community is thanked for its initial and ongoing efforts in trying to locate Mr Price."

In a similar case, the body of a father-of-one was found earlier in the month after he had been considered missing for 10 months.

Joshua Jones was last seen on December 12 when he told his loved ones he was going to the pharmacy.

He later texted his wife Talia to say “I love you to the moon and back” before switching off his phone.

But police have now confirmed that a member of the public found a body in a secluded part of Clough Woods, Derbyshire, on Sunday afternoon.

A spokesman for Derbyshire Constabulary added that there are “thought to be no suspicious circumstances” and they believed the body found was Joshua, 29.
