Jameel Jones, 17, is charged as an adult for fatal I-70 shooting

A 17-year-old suspect is charged as an adult in the shooting death of a driver on Interstate 70.

At about 11 p.m. July 31, Jameel James allegedly shot 31-year-old Kevin Piaskowki on westbound I-70 near North Quebec Street, according to the Denver District Attorney’s Office.

James fired shots at a vehicle driven by Piaskowski, crashed the vehicle he was driving and fled the scene on foot, the DA’s office said in a Tuesday news release. He was arrested on Aug. 12.

James is charged with first-degree murder and motor vehicle theft, both felonies. He’s also charged with violating a probation order for possession of a firearm, and possession of a firearm as a juvenile, both misdemeanors.
