Kate Middleton’s ‘welcome family distraction’ helped her deal with racism storm

Kate Middleton is working to put a "smile back on her face" after a "difficult" few weeks following Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s bombshell Oprah Winfrey interview, which disputed claims she had made Prince Williams' wife cry.

Meghan took time to correct the notion she had made Kate cry, by clarifying that it was the Duchess of Cambridge who had made Meghan sob, not the other way around.

Mum-of-three Kate has attended several Royal engagements since the interview, which fans claim she appears downcast at.

Royal expert Kate Nicholl believes Kate's sadness is actually sympathy for her husband William, and said the Duchess actually has a lot of reasons to be happy at the moment.

Ms Nicholl says her sister Pippa Milddeton's pregnancy and birth of daughter Grace Elizabeth Jane has been a "welcome distraction" for Kate.

Pippa's baby joy is really putting a "smile back on her face," she adds and is what has been getting her through a "difficult few weeks."

The Royal expert told the Express: "Pippa’s baby joy has been a welcome distraction for Kate after a difficult few weeks.

“It’s really put a smile back on her face."

Speaking to Pippa more is likely a slice of normality for Kate, who is reportedly a very hands on Aunt and spends a lot of time with her sister pre-lockdown.

Ms Nicholl says: "Pippa and Kate’s children used to spend so much time together before lockdown and they are both hands-on aunties."

Equally, Pippa spends a lot of time with Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, who see her as a "fun Aunt."

The expert said: "George, Charlotte and Louis adore Pippa and she’s a really fun aunt."

She adds that Kate's "normal" family is an "anchor" for the couple, who are able to escape Royal life by going to the Middleton's home.

Ms Nicholl explains: "The Middletons have always been that anchor for Kate and William. It’s a real sense of normality amid any chaos.

"William has always loved spending time with all the Middletons as it’s his escapism.

"He’s close to Carole and Michael and always insisted the royal family treat them well, which the Queen has done. She welcomed them with open arms."
