Killer caught on camera chatting to mum just hours before fatal frenzied attack

CCTV footage has captured a cold-hearted killer befriending an "incredible mum" just hours before brutally stabbing her to death in her own home.

Birute Klicneliene, 51, stabbed Dace Kalkerte, 50, 16 times in her first-floor flat in King's Lynn, Norfolk, on April 15, 2022, and chilling security footage has captured the mum-of-one's final moments.

CCTV footage shows the pair walking along a park path with Dace carrying what appears to be grocery bags in hand, chatting amicably only hours before Klicneliene's crazed attack.

The women had met each other earlier that day while drinking at an allotment with their respective husbands, Klicneliene and Dace took off from the allotment, leaving their husbands behind.

Metro reports that police were called to Dace's flat at 12.30am where they found her covered in blood and unresponsive.

Dace died at Lynn's Queen Elizabeth hospital the following day.

Dace was found by her daughter who was at home at the time of the frenzied attack.

Klicneliene denied the attack, telling the police that she had fallen asleep and that Dace was lying on the floor when she woke up, reports the BBC.

She then alleged that a man had murdered Dace, yet there was no evidence to indicated someone had forced their way into the flat.

Klicneliene was sentenced to life in jail, with a minimum term of 18 years.

At the sentencing, prosecutor Andrew Jackson read out a statement from Dace's partner.

He said: "His hope is that she will recover and in due course be able to lead a full life, and he says his whole world has changed forever.

"The statement makes clear that Dace was an incredible mother. They have lost her in the most horrific and cruel way."

Police said they might never know why she launched the attack, reports the BBC.
