Lafayette’s Centaurus High School has been placed on lockdown after someone at the school reported hearing gunshots.
Lafayette police Deputy Chief Brian Rosipajla said the original call was for the sound of gunfire, but nothing has been confirmed at this time and there have been no injuries reported.
Rosipajla said officers are in the building and assessing the situation.
Centaurus High School, 10300 W South Boulder Road, has been placed on lockdown, which means lights are turned off and those inside are told to remain out of sight.
Angevine Middle and Ryan Elementary were placed on secure lockout but resumed normal operations just before 11:30 a.m.
The eastbound lanes of South Boulder Road are closed near the school.
