Legendary tag team The Steiner Brothers added to 2022 WWE Hall of Fame class

The Steiner Brothers have been confirmed as the latest inductees to WWE’s Hall of Fame 2022 class.

The legendary tag team will join the likes of headline inductee The Undertaker and Vader in being part of this year’s list of entrants.

The pair will be decorated with the honour at WWE’s Hall of Fame ceremony which takes on Friday – the night before WrestleMania Saturday – the first of this year’s two-night WrestleMania extravaganza from Dallas, Texas.

While Rick and Scott may not be the most flamboyant or instantly recognisable tag teams in WWE’s colourful history of character-based stars, they’re nonetheless one of the most respected tandems in the entire wresting industry.

As a duo, their pair broke into pro wrestling after teaming as amateurs in their home state of Michigan – featuring first in WCW in the late 1980s and early 1990s.

They jumped to WWE – then WWF – in late 1992, making a first pay-per-view appearance the following January at the Royal Rumble event.

Months later at WrestleMania IX, they defeated The Headshrinkers in Las Vagas in one of the most underrated Mania tag-team bouts in history.

They twice held WWE’s tag team championships that year before winding down their time with Vince McMahon’s company the following year, going on to feature in ECW and WCW once again during a career that saw them wrestle all over the world.

The brothers would part and reunite as a tag team over the years, with Scott Steiner going on to forge the more notable of a singles career, including time back with WWE that began 20 years ago with a memorable return at the Royal Rumble in New York.

59-year-old Scott has been a controversial figure at times, often outspoken about WWE and its stars in more recent years.

Noted US journalist Dave Meltzer recently commented that any such induction would likely depend on his position, saying: “I’ve heard Rick Steiner or The Steiner Brothers [could be inducted] depending on Scott.

“I think if Scott is not willing, they’ll go with Rick, but they want The Steiner Brothers…”

WWE appear to have nailed everything down, though, confirming that the brothers once known for being “the face of tag team excellence” would be part of the prestigious Hall of Fame ceremony on Friday.

The bash takes place after Friday Night SmackDown, before WrestleMania 38 itself airs over Saturday and Sunday Night.

Fans in the UK can watch WrestleMania on BT Sport Box Office or via WWE Network.
