It is sited in one of Merseyside’s "most prestigious postcodes" and has met a mixed reaction from locals on social media.

Linsa Shimka wrote on Facebook: "Looks like a Lego house."

And Liverpool FC fan Allan Hocking added: "For a million I'd want my neighbours a lot farther away than that."

The city was crowned the UK’s top property hotspot in 2020 with a whopping 15.1% increase in average house prices in the year to October, according to Movewise analysis.

The home in the exclusive Birkdale area is just moments from the village, Royal Birkdale Golf Club and the picturesque seaside, and surrounded by more £1 million houses, said estate agents.

In the past two years, neighbouring properties, on Waterloo Road, have sold for £1,200,000 and £1,135,000.

Another £1m home is also for sale on Sandringham Road, less than 0.2miles away.

Listed on Rightmove with Bailey Estates Unique and Exclusive, the five bedroom house benefits from the privacy of electric gates and a CCTV system.
