There's breaking up with someone through text… and then there's ending a relationship in public, for a crowd of thousands to see.
Sounds brutal, right? Well, that's exactly what a man did on Saturday night, August 21, at a baseball match in Ohio, the US.
The Akron RubberDucks fan clearly didn't have the guts to say it to his girlfriend's face, as he paid $5 (about £3.65) to convey the message on the scoreboard during the game between the RubberDucks and Harrisburg Senators at Akron's Canal Park, according to local media.
While scoreboard messages submitted by fans at baseball games are usually reserved for birthdays, anniversaries and other special occasions, this fan, reportedly named Tim, had another idea in mind.
He submitted a message to the scoreboard which read: "Alyssa, this relationship is OVER. – Tim."
The message appeared sixth with the rest of the scoreboard messages, and is said to have shocked members of the crowd.
According to 3News, RubberDucks creative services co-ordinator Jack Haines confirmed that the message was genuine, saying: "The fan who purchased it paid $5 to do so."

However, Haines was unable to verify the identities of Tim or Alyssa to the news source.
He said: "We don't know Tim or Alyssa right now.
"Fan shoutouts are submitted without us asking for any type of ID so we don't know who they are. Maybe our fans can help us."
In a slightly less brutal case closer to home, a boy went viral after his older sister shared his break-up texts to his girlfriend on the Internet.
In 2016, Annie Williams uploaded screenshots of the texts to social media.

Her younger brother Liam clearly spent no time dwelling on the past when he broke up with his girlfriend.
He shamelessly told her “cba with a relationship” before conceding he wanted to end the relationship.
But he must have ice in his veins because he then went a step further.
Liam, who’d already admitted another girl called Jess was “fit”, brutally asked his ex for the girl’s number.
He was then called every name under the sun – with Twitter users labelling Liam a player, a savage, and even a class act.
