Meghan and Harrys UK return very good for Royal Familys brand, says expert

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's potential return to the UK would be "very good" for their brand and that of the Royal Family, one royal expert has claimed.

Currently, speculation is rife over whether the Sussexes, along with their children Archie Harrison, two, and Lilibet Diana, seven months, will fly back the UK for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations in June.

Although Harry has returned on two occasions, Meghan hasn't set foot in the UK since their exit at the start of 2020. It would also be Lilibet's first time over here.

Professor Pauline Maclaran, author of Royal Fever: The British Monarchy in Consumer Culture, has now said that a Sussex return would be good for both sides of the royal rift, reports the Express.

The expert told the Express: "I think that would benefit both brands because it would be seen as a kind of reconciliation.

"I think it would add to the royal celebrations to have the element of diversity reclaimed that they seem to have lost through the sort of rupture of the relationship with Meghan.

"So I think that would be a very good thing."

Professor Maclaran did add that she thinks the return of the Sussexes "seems unlikely", but said that there is plenty of time between now and the Jubilee for that to change.

"I think it would be very good for the Sussex brand as well as they really need to maintain those sort of royal connections to really validate their brand, otherwise what are they," she continued.

"So because it might benefit them more than the actual Royal Family brand that might in fact encourage them to make a visit to top up their brand as it were with a little bit of royal shimmer and glimmer."

This comes after Meghan and Harry were told to "pump out some content" for Spotify and Netflix.

Discussing the couple's multi-million dollar deals with both streaming giants, Jo Elvin, host of the Palace Confidential podcast, said: "I just think if I was as rolling in cash and living in a mansion as Harry and Meghan are, I would find it very hard to be motivated to do any work.

"They need to pump out some content."
