With the start of the Major League Baseball season postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic, we here at The Denver Post took a look at how the Rockies would fare in MLB The Show 20 on PlayStation 4. We will have a story for every game that had been scheduled until real-life baseball returns. Here’s a look at the virtual Rockies’ preseason preview. Entering Saturday’s game, the Rockies were 70-34.
CINCINNATI — The Rockies gave up a two-run lead, losing to the Reds, 5-4, Saturday at Great American Ball Park.
Rockies starter Chi Chi Gonzalez gave up four runs on nine hits in five innings for the no decision. Reliever Bryan Shaw (2-3) picked up the loss.
Down 2-0 entering the fifth, Ryan McMahon hit an RBI triple to drive home Daniel Murphy. Gonzalez helped his own cause by driving in McMahon with an RBI single to tie the game. David Dahl followed with a single to give the Rockies two on base. Garrett Hampson hit a double to drive home Gonzalez to take the lead. Nolan Arenado added one more, knocking in Dahl with an RBI single to make it 4-2.
Cincinnati battled back scoring two in the bottom of the fifth to tie it at 4-apiece.
Colorado (70-35) has a nine-game lead over the Dodgers (61-44) for first place in the National League West. The Rockies and Reds (60-44) play the finale of their three-game series on Saturday. German Marquez (12-4) takes on Cincinnati’s Wade Miley (6-7).
