The mother of a baby found dead in a Morrisons car park has been identified and is receiving "appropriate care", police have said.
West Midlands Police issued a plea on Sunday afternoon for information leading to find the mother of a baby, discovered lifeless outside a supermarket in Bilston.
A member of the public was the first to spot the tragic corpse and dialled 999.
A police statement said: "We've identified the mother as a result of our earlier appeal and she is now receiving appropriate care.
"We will be speaking to her in due course. Thank you to everyone for sharing the appeal."
West Midlands Police confirmed they were called to the scene just after 9am on Sunday.
In their desperate search for the missing mother officers had stared, scouring CCTV and ringing hospitals to track her down.
Tributes for the lost young life have started to be left at the scene of Morrisons on the Black Country Route.

Police said the mother's welfare was their priority, when an appeal was put out for her to come forward earlier in the day.
