Police: Man killed in Denver during physical altercation with woman

A man was killed in North Capitol Hill Saturday and a woman is being held for investigation in connection with his death, according to Denver police.

The incident happened at about 1:50 p.m. at the intersection of East Colfax Avenue and North Grant Street, according to Denver police spokesman Kurt Barnes.

He said there was an altercation between a man in his late 60s and a woman, and that the woman struck the man, who “fell, hit his head and became unresponsive at the scene,” Barnes said.

The man later died. Police have not released his name or the name of the woman, who is being held for investigation of first-degree murder.

What, if any, relationship existed between the pair is still under investigation, and a motive for the attack was not immediately clear, Barnes said.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867.
