Royal babies are celebrated across the globe, with many fans excited to see the bundles of joy for the first time with their parents.

Recently, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry welcomed their second child into the world, Lilibet Diana, who was born on June 4, 2021.

Her birth was announced by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex who explained the touching meaning behind her name which was in tribute to Her Majesty, Lilibet's great-grandmother.

Despite the special moniker, she has yet to meet the monarch in person due to living across the pond in California with mum Meghan, dad Harry and older brother Archie, who is now two years old.

However, another royal birth reportedly led to the Queen making a brutal joke.

The unearthed rumour is regarding the first time Her Majesty saw her grandson, Prince William, after he was born on June 21, 1982.

Prince Charles and Princess Diana welcomed their first son, with Charles besotted as a new dad.

According to the Express, he wrote to his second cousin Patricia Mountbatten announcing the joyous news.

The Prince of Wales is quoted as saying: "The arrival of our small son has been an astonishing experience and one that has meant more to me than I ever could have imagined.

"I am so thankful I was beside Diana's bedside the whole time because I felt as though I'd shared deeply in the process of birth and as a result was rewarded by seeing a small creature who belonged to us even though he seemed to belong to everyone else as well."

However, it's reported the Queen had a very different reaction.

She reportedly said: "Thank goodness he doesn't have ears like his father."

Her jokey response to royal births appears to be a popular trait within The Firm.

According to the Netflix documentary, The Royals, in 2013, Philip casually met his newborn son, Charles, commenting he looked like a "plum pudding".

Furthermore, in the 1992 biography, Diana: Her True Story, author Andrew Morton claimed Prince Charles and Princess Diana were "very, very close" in the six weeks before their second son, Harry, was born.

However, years later, Diana claimed Charles made a comment after the Duke of Sussex was born.

He apparently remarked: "Oh God, it's a boy!

"And he's even got red hair!"

It's been a year like no other for the Queen from the loss of her husband to heartache over Prince Harry. But Her Majesty has also had a lot of cause for celebration, including the birth of baby Lilibet. To mark what a year the Queen has had, OK!
