Footage of a woman cuddling on the sofa with her new rescue dog has left viewers "crying" with happiness after going viral on social media.
In the "wholesome" video, uploaded by Reddit user u/WrinklyDog1 earlier today, a woman lies on the sofa with a sandy-coloured dog curled up on top of her, looking utterly content.
Smiling, she zooms in on the happy dog's face before giving her a gentle stroke around the ears.
In the caption, she explained that she only adopted the dog, called Stella, recently but she has already had a profoundly positive effect on her mental health.
She wrote: "I only rescued her one week ago and she loooves cuddling.
"I haven’t had to take an anxiety pill since getting her because she’s like the ultimate weighted blanket."
Predictably, the sweet tale of doggie love made people get quite emotional and the clip was up-voted more than 59,000 times.
One smitten viewer wrote: "That's a dog that needed someone to love and I'm almost crying knowing it has someone now.
"And I never cry for anything goddamn."
A second commented: "Rescues are the best, mine is snoozing beside me right now. I hope you have a long happy life together!"
Someone else said: "My rescue is a cuddle monster too. It's like they have this enduring gratitude for welcoming them into your family."
"This is so wholesome, you can literally see the love in your smile," gushed another.
A dog lover wrote: "Your smile is contagious. I'm sat at work now with a big grin. Thank you for that."
This comes after a loyal dog waited for more than 10 hours at the window for its owner to return home from not work, not budging from the spot.
His heartbroken owner says she is considering getting him a doggie pal to help with the loneliness.
