Rockies major offseason moves

Nov. 1: Reinstated outfielder Ian Desmond to the roster after Desmond sat out 2020 season.

Nov. 25: Traded right-hander Jeff Hoffman and right-hander Case Williams (their fourth-round pick in 2020) to the Cincinnati Reds for right-hander Robert Stephenson and left-handed-hitting outfield prospect Jameson Hannah.

Dec. 2: Non-tendered outfielder David Dahl, catcher Tony Wolters and right-hander Chi Chi González. González later signed a minor league deal with the Rockies with an invitation to spring training.

Dec. 3: Acquired left-hander Yoan Aybar from Boston Red Sox in exchange for 2019 12th-round pick Christian Koss. Aybar was added to the 40-man roster.

Dec. 10: Selected right-hander Jordan Sheffield from the Los Angeles Dodgers in the Rule 5 Draft. Sheffield must remain on the Rockies’ big-league roster in 2021.

Jan. 11: Signed free-agent second baseman Hunter Stovall, free-agent right-hander Joe Harvey and free-agent right-hander Zac Rosscup to minor league contracts with invitations to spring training.

Jan. 20: Signed free-agent infielder Chris Owings to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.

Feb. 1: Traded third baseman Nolan Arenado to the St. Louis Cardinals for left-hander Austin Gomber, third baseman Elehuris Montero, shortstop Mateo Gil, and right-handers Tony Locey and Jake Sommers, plus cash considerations.

Feb. 11: Signed first baseman Greg Bird to a minor league deal with an invitation to spring training.
