Russia’s most evil killers – from mum and son who ate corpses to OAP murderer

Six people including five women were killed when a gunman started shooting at a Russian university yesterday.

The 18-year-old gunman, identified as Timur Bekmansurov, reportedly went on the deadly rampage at Perm State University in the country's Ural mountains.

Below, we take a look at three of the most gruesome killers who previously caused unthinkable pain and suffering in the old Soviet region.

The chilling cases, along with others, were explored in a new book by Wensley Clarkson called Serial Killers of Russia: Case files from the World’s Deadliest Nation.

Inside the grisly pages, Clarkson explained how cannibalism took a nasty hold of the country after brutal food shortages during The Second World War.

Russia was badly damaged and became a breeding ground for some despicable killers. Below are just three examples.

Alexander Spesivtsev

Alexander Spesivtsev had a rough upbringing.

He was allegedly sexually abused by his alcoholic father, who vanished and left the family alone.

According to reports, Spesivtsev then slept in his mother’s bed until he was a teenager.

Eventually, they went on to become a deadly duo, with Spesivtsev later being dubbed the Siberian ripper.

Lyudmila lured victims back to their home where her son would torture and kill them.

The flesh of some victims was eaten – as happened in 1997 when three girls arrived at the apartment.

All three died and the evil pair were arrested days later.

Spesivtsev confessed to murdering 19 children but was convicted of just four murders. He now undergoes regular psychiatric tests.

Cops believe he actually killed dozens more victims.

His mum was sentenced to life for luring the girls to the apartment but was released in 2008 for good behaviour.

Irina Gaidamachuk

Irina Gaidamachuk became known as Russia’s worst ever-female serial killer after her stomach-churning 10-year reign of terror.

She escaped the authorities for so long because police were convinced the person responsible for the deaths was a man.

Therefore, Gaidamachuk was able to keep killing old people before fleecing them of their possessions.

Gaidamachuk, known as the Monster of Krasnoufimsk, began her sick spree when she helped an old lady cross the road with her shopping bags.

After being invited back, she decided to whack the OAP in the skull with a vase before fleeing with £20.

From that moment, Gaidamachuk, who was married with two kids, kept on killing.

The unsuspecting murderer stalked the streets of Krasnoufimsk with a hammer in her bag.

She was eventually caught in 2010 after one of her victim’s survived.

Gaidamachuk was charged with 17 counts of murder and one attempted murder.

She was sentenced to 20 years in jail where she remains.

Anatoly Slivko

Anatoly Slivko was a troubled child who often wet the bed because of a condition called hydrocephalus.

When he was younger, his hometown was bombed by Nazi Germany.

At one point he was forced into the woods where soldiers molested him at gunpoint.

Later he joined the army but struggled to fit in.

He was secretly gay but went on to marry a woman and battled erectile dysfunction.

Slivko became a monster when he started running a youth club in Nevinnomyssk the 1960s.

His first kill was a 15-year-old boy, who he hung from a noose before untying him too late.

The child’s body was dismembered and burnt.

After burying the remains, Slivko then continued killing for two decades.

Cops tracked him down and pinned seven murders on him, which he confessed to.

They also found footage of Slivko masturbating over dead bodies and arranging a severed head in place.

He was eventually executed after being shot once in the head.
