A 15-year-old suspect in a fatal two-vehicle crash in Aurora that killed a 12-year-old girl and injured 11 adults and children has been charged with vehicular homicide, among other felony charges.
The juvenile, who also faces eight counts of vehicular assault and three counts of motor vehicle theft, is being held without bond, according to the Arapahoe County District Attorney’s Office. He is also charged with reckless driving and driving without a license.
Eleven people, ranging in age from 6 months to 31 years old, were hurt in the Oct. 29 crash. Sahni Pyles, a 12-year-old who had been in the stolen vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The crash happened at the intersection of South Buckley Road and East Kent Drive.
The juvenile suspect had previously been charged with felony robbery on Aug. 26, the DA’s office said. On Oct. 25 an arrest warrant had been issued for the teen because he had removed his GPS ankle monitor, violating a bond condition in the robbery case. He now faces 12 felonies and two traffic-related offenses in connection to the crash. His name has not been released because he is a juvenile suspect.
