Two boys died, another injured after being struck by vehicle in Fountain – The Denver Post

Two boys have died and another sustained injuries after all three were struck by a vehicle in Fountain late Saturday night near the area of Highway 16 and Fountain Mesa Road.

A 15-year-old male was found dead by officers after arriving at the scene. A second 9-year-old male was taken to a local emergency room but died due to his severe injuries. The third boy, 15, had minor injuries.

According to a news release, the boys were crossing a crosswalk while the light was green when the vehicle hit the boys. The driver remained on the scene and “did not appear to commit any traffic violations,” the release said.

Lisa Schneider, public safety information officer for Fountain Police, said she could not provide any information on the status of the third boy or if the driver was under the influence.
