The two nations have seen an uneasy period of peacetime over the last few years. In recent weeks the North has ramped up it’s threats to the South over Pyongyang defector’s leaflets being dropped in North Korean cities.
On Wednesday, North Korea confirmed that it has rejected South Korea’s offer to send special peace envoys.
It was also made clear that North Korea intends to send troops back to the demilitarised border.
Northern state media outlet KCNA made the warning after weeks of tension over the propaganda leaflets.
It follows North Korea exploding a joint liaison office in a border town, which was started as part of the 2018 peace agreement between the two countries.
