There are currently 12 Red Notices issued by Interpol in place for criminal Brits on the run around the world.

The international policing agency, responsible for hunting down criminals worldwide, only ever issues Red Notices for seriously dangerous folk with 7,100 criminals on its list. One of the most notorious on the lists is Samantha Lewthwaite, known as the White Widow. She is wanted in Kenya on terrorism charges, and is the widow of 7/7 London bomber Germaine Lindsay.

She stands accused of causing the deaths of more than 400 people and is linked to several terror attacks, including the Westgate shopping mall bombing in Nairobi which left 71 dead and 200 injured.

An arrest warrant was issued in 2012, and she is still thought to be wandering around Africa somewhere, evading capture. Another female on the list is Arti Dhir, 59, who was born in Kenya but has British citizenship.

Former Heathrow baggage handler Ms Dhir and her husband are alleged to have ordered a hitman to carry out the killing of there son in India, which also resulted in Gopal Sejani's brother-in-law's death, so that they could get an insurance payout.

She is wanted in India, but is currently walking free in London, because UK courts refused to extradite them to India – despite the Red Notice – because it was felt it would breach Article 3 of the European Convention of Human Rights.
