    Passengers were plunged into \u201ccomplete darkness\u201d without food or working toilets after an overhead power cable fell onto their train.<\/p>\n

    The Eurostar was set to travel from London St. Pancras to Amsterdam after leaving the station at 8.16am this morning. However, it never made it to its destination after people were left trapped in their seats for almost eight hours without power.<\/p>\n

    Passenger Debbie Cleary tweeted: \u201cOur train – the 0816 – from St Pancras to Amsterdam has been stuck now for over 7 hours. We are in almost complete darkness, no food, no drinks, toilets are overflowing\u2026. How can this be ok?\u201d<\/p>\n

    Eurostar confirmed the issue was due to a fallen overhead cable at the entrance to the Channel Tunnel. After more than seven hours, the train headed back to London.<\/p>\n

    Eurostar spokesperson told the Daily Star: \u201cAn overhead cable has fallen on the 08:16 Eurostar train, between London and Amsterdam, at the entrance of the Channel Tunnel. There are around 700 passengers and crew on board who are confirmed to be safe.<\/p>\n
