It's the 12 days of Christmas storms! Three Atlantic torments and 70mph winds will batter Brits \u2013 then snow is set to hit the festive period.<\/p>\n
Festive markets were cancelled and shoppers walloped by gusts up to 70mph today (Saturday, December 9). It's as three inches\u2019 rain deluged Scotland and an inch hit the South.<\/p>\n
A second tempest buffets the North-West tomorrow (Sunday, December 10) with 60mph gusts expected as downpours affect most other parts. Weathermen warned of rain bursts through the next 12 days, as shown on a weather map. <\/p>\n

The North will be wet throughout. The South will have a brief respite from Wednesday, but is due to be be hit by rainy days again after next weekend, and a third Atlantic torment is set to arrive in the run-up to Christmas.<\/p>\n
Late December then risks a cold spell, with snow and ice returning. A Met Office forecaster said: \u201cWet and windy weather is dominating. Sunday has bands of rain sweeping across much of the country. It will often be windy until Tuesday, with some gales.<\/p>\n

\u201cFrom midweek sees wet and windy weather in the North. The South looks more settled, before unsettled conditions return the following week.<\/p>\n
\u201cFrom December 22 has further bands of rain crossing the UK. The chance of a colder spell of weather, with snow and ice, increases later in December and into the New Year.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Environment Agency said: \u201cRiver flooding is possible in the South, East Midlands and Yorkshire until Tuesday.\u201d<\/p>\n
