A horrifying incident unfolded in the Russian-occupied town of Volnovakha on October 27, where nine people, including two young children, were found shot dead in their home.
Ukrainian officials claim that Russian soldiers killed the entire Kapkanets family because they refused to give up their house.
Russian investigators, on the other hand, suggest that a domestic dispute might be the motive behind the crime.
Disturbing photos of the crime scene were shared on social media, showing the aftermath of the violence, which has shocked many.
Dmytro Lubinets, a Ukrainian ombudsman, accused Russian involvement in the killings, mentioning that the Kapkanets family was celebrating a birthday when the tragedy occurred. Two children, born in 2014 and 2018, were among the victims.

Volnovakha has been heavily affected by the conflict, which began in 2022 when Russian forces captured the town.

The Ukrainian military launched a counter-offensive to resist the Russian troops, but progress has been slow, and the situation remains costly for both sides.
