It's the 12 days of Christmas storms! Three Atlantic torments and 70mph winds will batter Brits – then snow is set to hit the festive period.
Festive markets were cancelled and shoppers walloped by gusts up to 70mph today (Saturday, December 9). It's as three inches’ rain deluged Scotland and an inch hit the South.
A second tempest buffets the North-West tomorrow (Sunday, December 10) with 60mph gusts expected as downpours affect most other parts. Weathermen warned of rain bursts through the next 12 days, as shown on a weather map.

The North will be wet throughout. The South will have a brief respite from Wednesday, but is due to be be hit by rainy days again after next weekend, and a third Atlantic torment is set to arrive in the run-up to Christmas.
Late December then risks a cold spell, with snow and ice returning. A Met Office forecaster said: “Wet and windy weather is dominating. Sunday has bands of rain sweeping across much of the country. It will often be windy until Tuesday, with some gales.
“From midweek sees wet and windy weather in the North. The South looks more settled, before unsettled conditions return the following week.
“From December 22 has further bands of rain crossing the UK. The chance of a colder spell of weather, with snow and ice, increases later in December and into the New Year.”
The Environment Agency said: “River flooding is possible in the South, East Midlands and Yorkshire until Tuesday.”
